Tim Waters is a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist in physical
therapy. Additionally, he is certified by the McKenzie Institute
in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment of spinal conditions.
After graduating from University of Cape Town in 1993, Tim
worked in Texas before moving to Hawaii five years ago. As
a contractor for the US Navy and Marine Corps during this
time, Tim has gained valuable experience working in the field
of orthopedic and sports injuries.
He has extensive experience in post-surgical rehabilitation, particularly
knee and shoulder conditions. Working with military members has provided the
opportunity to not only treat common post-surgical conditions
such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscectomy,
subacromial decompression, but also posterior cruciate (PCL)
reconstruction, patella tendon repair, distal patella re-alignment
and shoulder labrum/ SLAP repair surgeries.
In 2005 his high quality of service to the US Navy was officially
recognized when he was named "Senior Civilian Contractor of the Year".
Tim's principles of providing top quality patient care has
led to him becoming a partner in Hands-On Physical Therapy,
where this level of patient attention and quality service
is a core value.
Tim's interest in physical therapy was first sparked after suffering
a serious knee injury in rugby, resulting in much rehabilitation.
This has facilitated an ability to empathize with sportspersons suffering
similar injuries and having to undergo physical therapy.
Tim enjoys surfing, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing and hiking and is a member of the Audubon and Wildlife organizations.
